Installing QlikRoutes for Desktop Client - Manual Method for Windows 7/8
Download the Decompressed Installation Files
Obtain the login credentials for the download site from your Analytics8 Sales Executive or Analytics8 Reseller Partner.
Note: The download site is download.analytics8.com
Note: The download site automatically zips the folder. Unzip the folder before proceeding.
Verify hidden files are visible
Ensure that the “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” option is selected so you can navigate to the necessary folders.
Move the contents of each .ZIP file to the Objects folder
Copy the contents of the .ZIP file to:
• C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects
NOTE: You will have to manually create the following folders if no extensions have been installed on the machine:
• C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions
• C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects
Verify directory structure
When verifying the directory structure, make sure that files, not another QlikRoutes folder, are found directly inside the following folders.
NOTE: Due to the way that certain zipping programs unzip files, you may have an extra level of folders inside the following directories. To resolve this, copy the innermost folder and past to the /Extensions/Objects directory. The ending directory structure should look like the following, with files directly inside them, rather than a QlikRoutes folder.
The final directory structure should look similar to this:
• C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects\QlikRoutes
Desktop Client and QlikView Server on the same machine
Only use these instructions if the desktop client is installed on the same machine the QlikView server is. If you do not have the desktop client installed on the server, do not continue with this step.
Typically, The QlikView desktop stores extension objects in a folder separate from the QlikView Server. This can be overridden so that the desktop client will use the same folder as the QlikView server as long as the QlikView Desktop Client and the QlikView Server reside on the same server. This will allow you to have a single copy of the extension files.
Remove the QlikView Desktop Client Extension directories
Delete the following directory:
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects\QlikRoutes
Open QlikView Desktop Client registry settings
- In the QlikView Desktop Client, go to Help -> About QlikView
- • Right-click on the QlikView logo in the bottom-left corner
Enable UseServerFolders for Extensions
- Scroll to “ExtensionUseServerFolder”
- • Type “1” in the “Value” field
- • Press the "Set" button
