2016 July 12: Hotfix for "As of July 11, 2016, direct tile access has been discontinued"

QlikMaps Software Bulletin 2016 July 12

An update to the Mapquest Tile Service used by QlikMaps may have an impact on your QlikMaps implementation. QlikMaps uses the Mapquest Tile Service to provide one of the many base layers used to display maps.

How do I know if I am affected?

Most newer environments are not affected by this Mapquest Tile Service update. However, in some environments, some users may experience their base map replaced by a notification that "As of July 11, 2016, direct tile access has been discontinued."

How do I prevent QlikMaps from showing the popup?

We have hotfixed all 2.x releases of QlikMaps on the download site, so a full upgrade is not necessary. Simply install any version from the download site on top of your existing QlikMaps installation. For example, if you are running QlikMaps 2.2 and do not want to upgrade to QlikMaps 2.6, then you would download and install QlikMaps 2.2 that includes the hotfix.

It is also possible to change the base map in each QlikMaps sheet object to any base map other than the default MapQuest basemap. Directions can be found at the following.

Change Base Map for Qlik Sense

How can I trust the reliability of the hotfix?

The core QlikMaps codebase has not changed within each QlikMaps version. Only a small, low risk portion of the code was changed to replace references to the MapQuest base map with a similar base map provided by CartoDB.
